Gardeners The Hyde Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Gardeners The Hyde in respect of the financial year ending 31 March and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. Gardeners The Hyde is committed to conducting business ethically, responsibly, and with integrity in all our relationships.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Gardeners The Hyde has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to our own activities, as well as to the conduct of everyone with whom we do business. We do not accept any form of forced labour, child labour, bonded labour, servitude, deceptive or exploitative recruitment practices, or human trafficking within our organisation or our supply chains.
All employees, contractors, and suppliers are expected to act consistently with our values and to comply with all applicable laws relating to labour standards, human rights, and modern slavery. We reserve the right to terminate relationships with any individual or organisation that does not meet these standards or that is found to be involved in modern slavery practices.
Our Organisation and Supply Chains
Gardeners The Hyde operates in the gardening and grounds maintenance sector, providing services to residential, commercial, and community clients. Our supply chains include the sourcing of plants, tools, equipment, uniforms, and related materials, as well as certain outsourced services. We recognise that risks of modern slavery can exist at different tiers of the supply chain, particularly where goods are manufactured or sourced from high-risk sectors or regions.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers and contractors that share our commitment to ethical labour practices. All new key suppliers are required to confirm that they comply with all relevant modern slavery and human trafficking legislation and that they uphold fair employment practices.
Gardeners The Hyde is developing and implementing a risk-based supplier audit programme. This includes assessing suppliers based on sector, geography, and the nature of goods and services supplied. Where higher risks are identified, we may undertake additional due diligence, request evidence of labour standards policies, or conduct on-site or remote audits. If any non-compliance is identified, we will work with the supplier to agree corrective actions within clear timeframes. Where issues are not resolved to our satisfaction, we may suspend or end the business relationship.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees and management. Training is provided to relevant staff to help them recognise indicators of modern slavery, understand our policies, and know how to report concerns. We encourage open dialogue about labour standards and ethical sourcing across our business.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Gardeners The Hyde encourages anyone who has concerns about possible modern slavery or human trafficking in our business or supply chains to report those concerns as soon as possible. Concerns can be raised with a line manager, a senior manager, or through our internal reporting and whistleblowing mechanisms.
All reports will be treated seriously and, so far as is reasonably practicable, confidentially. We will not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith. Any substantiated allegations of modern slavery will be investigated promptly and may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal, as well as notification to the appropriate authorities where required.
Ongoing Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility that requires continuous improvement. Gardeners The Hyde is committed to regularly reviewing our policies, risk assessments, and due diligence processes to strengthen our approach in light of evolving best practice and legal requirements.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed at least once every year by the senior management of Gardeners The Hyde. As part of the annual review, we will evaluate the effectiveness of our measures, consider any incidents or concerns raised, and set objectives for further improvement. Updated statements will reflect the progress we have made and any additional steps we plan to take.
This statement has been approved by the management of Gardeners The Hyde, who take overall responsibility for ensuring that it is implemented and maintained throughout the organisation.
